Brett EnsorOriginally from Dallas, Texas, Brett moved to South Bend to attend the University of Notre Dame, receiving his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 2012. Having found a unique opportunity and hesitant to leave the area, Brett stayed at Notre Dame for a fifth year to obtain a Master’s degree in the Engineering, Science, Technology, and Entrepreneurship Excellence Master’s (ESTEEM) program. Through this degree, Brett learned how to commercialize and market new technologies.
During his time as a Notre Dame student, Brett was involved in various academic and extracurricular pursuits. Over the years Brett became actively involved in chemical engineering research, specifically developing catalyst technologies in biofuels and materials science sectors. His research evolved into a commercialization study and business plan that served as his year-long capstone thesis project. Outside of the lab and business meeting room, Brett spent his time participating heavily in the Band of the Fighting Irish, playing several instruments in various marching and concert bands. Some of his highlights include performing at the BCS National Championship game in 2013 and traveling with the band to Ireland and along the Mediterranean coast. Brett is excited to be a part of the enFocus team this year and to continue working in South Bend. With experience in scientific research, medical testing, data management, martial arts, music, and university services, he has engaged with a variety of fields to learn many methodologies and techniques applicable to his current position. He hopes to apply his expertise to give back to the community and help build a bigger and better South Bend. Outside of work, Brett enjoys remaining physically active through running, biking, and participating in sports with friends. His other hobbies include playing and teaching music, performing community service, and traveling. |
