Claudia AnewaltClaudia Anewalt grew up in Allentown Pennsylvania, and has had a life-long interest in community and economic development in mid-sized cities. Taking after her civic-minded family, she enjoys partnering with neighbors and city leaders to ensure vibrant cities. She is excited to be part of enFocus’ efforts. Claudia has worked on numerous political campaigns from municipal to presidential elections and has interned during New Hampshire's famed primary season.
Claudia earned her Ph.D in Political Science at the University of Notre Dame in May 2013. She studied American Politics with a focus on voter behavior. Her dissertation, Candidate Cues: Race, Ethnicity and Partisanship, investigates how candidate race or ethnicity interacts with party affiliation to provide information shortcuts to voters. She also has a co-authored article, "Legislator Wealth and the Effort to Repeal the Estate Tax" published in American Politics Research in July 2013. Prior to attending Notre Dame, Claudia completed a Masters in Political Science at Lehigh University's and was part of the Community Fellows Program. Her fellowship placement was with The West End Alliance, a nascent neighborhood association in a historic mixed-use neighborhood, where she planned promotional events. During her time at Lehigh, she developed a strong interest in land use policy and conducted qualitative research assessing the effect of highway construction on nearby economic development. Claudia is also a proud Smith College alumna, graduating Cum Laude with a B.A. in Sociology. Claudia has worked in diverse client-services positions including fundraising for non-profits and grant writing for affordable housing providers. She currently lives in Goshen, IN and enjoys gardening. |
